This temple is commonly known as “Rokkaku-do” because the main hall looks like a hexagon when viewed from above. The temple is said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku, and is also famous for the fact that Shinran, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect of Buddhism, visited the temple and the headquarters of Ikenobo, the headmaster of the Iemoto school of flower arrangement, is located here.
